A Method for Evaluation of Uv and Biologically Effective Exposures to Plants

چکیده
This paper presents a method for evaluating the UV and biologically effective exposures to a plant canopy during the irradiation of soybean with supplemental levels of UV radiation in a greenhouse study. The method employs four materials as dosimeters that allow evaluation of the UV spectra. The exposures evaluated at three growth stages were less by factors of 0.44, 0.49 and 0.56 compared to the ambient exposures. At the end of the irradiation period, the ambient biologically effective exposure for generalised plant response was higher by 180% compared to that calculated over the canopy. This is the magnitude of the error in UV studies that provide the ambient exposure as a measure of the UV incident on the plant. Additionally, the difference between the ambient and canopy exposures varied during the growth stages. These results indicate that the dosimetric technique applied to evaluating the UV exposures over a plant canopy is a more accurate representation of the UV exposure incident on a plant than any obtained by measuring the ambient exposures only.

Actinic Ultraviolet Exposures to Humans Assessed with a Dosimetric Technique
A spectrum evaluator based on a system of four materials has been applied to the evaluation of actinic ultraviolet exposures to humans. The exposures were evaluated between early morning and near noon in summer and the actinic irradiances calculated ranged from 3 μW cm to 5 μW cm. Simultaneously, the broad band irradiances which induced the actinic exposures and/or the biologically effective ex...

The interfering effect of ultraviolet (UV) radiation on the natural function of biological processes is wavelength specific and the UV spectrum must be weighted with the action spectrum for the process. The UV spectral irradiance may be measured with calibrated spectroradiometers. Alternatively, the biologically effective UV may be measured with broadband devices. This paper reviews the techniq...

Background: As increased outdoor activities of people, they are more exposed to UV radiation, which causes harmful effects on skin. Silymarin has protective potentials against DNA damage and non-melanoma skin cancers, and also it has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune regulation characteristics. Nano formulation of plant material showed to be more effective than common ones. Object...
